ISEA provides hand-washing facilities to IDP camps, taught IDPs how to produce soap and hand sanitizers.

Initiative for Socioeconomic and Ecological Advancement (ISEA) initiated the project “Preventing the spread of COVID-19 in internally displaced persons camps in Makurdi, Benue state” to address the needs of the internally displaced persons (IDPs) living in displaced persons’ camps in these times of Corona virus. ISEA’s aim was to ensure that these IDPs have the necessary facilities relevant for preventing the spread of the virus. This project received financial support from The Pollination Project.

ISEA provided hand-washing facilities to 3 IDP camps in Makurdi and taught selected internally displaced persons, especially women at these camps how to produce hand sanitizers and soap.

The provision of hand-washing facilities and training on production of liquid soap and hand sanitizers took place at Nepa Quarters and Baka IDP camps on 8th May 2020, and at Daudu camp 1 on 20th May 2020. A total of 34 persons in these 3 camps benefited from the training on production of liquid soap and hand sanitizers.

They were all joyful as beyond encouraging them to protect themselves against COVID-19, ISEA had taught them livelihood skills that would help them fend for themselves even after the COVID-19 pandemic.
